Welcome to Year 4 ~ Peacocks!

Hello! My name is Mrs Palmer, and I am the teacher in Year 4. I am new to Wolvey this year, but am excited to be entering my third year of teaching. I will be teaching alongside Miss Childs, Mrs Rai and Mrs Pritchard, who are our fantastic Learning Support Assistants. Through exploring our webpage, you can keep up-to-date with our learning journey, check out our wonderful curriculum and explore subject specific websites to support your children’s learning. Class Dojo 

We communicate with parents regularly through the Class Story on Class Dojo as we think it is an invaluable way of helping parents to stay informed of what is happening with their children on a day to day basis in school. Parents and children can also upload things that they have done at home to share with me.  I use the Class Dojo messaging service and am happy to answer simple queries through this, during office hours. 

Curriculum

This term, our PE day will be a Thursday afternoon. Please send children into school in full PE kit. We will be swimming from November - I will put further details about this on Dojo.

We will be learning about the Romans in History this term. The children are already really engaged and excited by this wonderful topic! 

In Science, we are learning about Living Things and Their Habitats, including classification, habitats, and environmental changes.

Our Art starts with shading and then moves to weaving this term, to tie into our Romans topic in History. 

Times tables

In the summer term, all year 4 children sit a short multiplication test where they are expected to be able to answer 25 times tables questions from the 1 to 12 times tables, with 6 seconds for each question. We will be doing lots of work in school to prepare for this, but the children need regular practice at home too in order for them to perform at their best. Multiplication recall is important for all of KS2 and beyond and is a key skill to master to support further mathematical learning through the children's school lives.
