Gypsy, Roma Traveller community

We are immensely proud to educate over 25% of all the GRT children in the whole of  Warwickshire. Our GRT community is very strong and all our GRT children are a huge credit to our school and their community!

We seek to end racism and discrimination against Gypsies, Travellers and Roma and to protect the right to pursue a nomadic way of life.

We support individuals and families with the issues that matter most to them, at the same time as working to transform systems and institutions to address the root causes of these inequalities.

Each year we celebrate GRT month!

We have a strong relationship which is built on trust with our local GRT community.

As a school we work closley with Mandy and Julie from Local Authority to provide support both in and outside of school.

Please contact school if you do need any support from Julie.

As a school, we:

  • Carry out Home Visits for the child and family with a child’s class teacher and support staff. These visits help to build relationships with the opportunity to discuss what school and home life is like.
  • Encourage children and families to share their experiences in school.
  • Use resources, books and photographs that reflect our traveller community.
  • Provide additional support across areas of learning in response to a child’s needs.
  • Provide additional support to families to ensure that know how to support their child and about special events in school.
  • Support families to enable good attendance at school.
  • Support families with the completion of paperwork where needed. For example, applying for a new school place.
  • Support children and families at times of transition. For example, before travelling or when moving to a new school.
  • Hold special events during ‘Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month’ in June.
