At Wolvey, our Sports Leaders are pupil role models who serve others through sport, reflecting our Christian vision:
“Embracing equality and experiencing excellence… among us you are all equal.”
(Galatians 3:28, MSG)
Chosen from our older pupils, Sports Leaders are given opportunities to lead with kindness, fairness and respect — living out our school’s values through their actions. They receive training to grow in leadership, teamwork, and communication, using their gifts to support and encourage others.
In PE lessons, Sports Leaders help teachers by demonstrating skills, setting up equipment, and cheering on younger pupils, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels confident to take part and do their best.
Beyond lessons, they help to organise sports events, lunchtime clubs, and playground activities, promoting friendship, perseverance, and joy in being active. They model fair play and encouragement, ensuring everyone has the chance to succeed and shine.
During whole-school events — from Sports Day to inter-school tournaments — our Sports Leaders show what it means to serve others, celebrate effort, and build community. Through their role, they grow in confidence, responsibility, and faith, learning that leadership is about lifting others up.
Together, our Sports Leaders help create a school where sport is for everyone, where equality and excellence go hand in hand, and where each child is inspired to live life to the full — just as God intended.
