Children learn and develop at their own pace, and progress can look very different for every child. In Year 2, we use a range of observations and optional assessments to help form a full picture of each child’s learning. Judgements are based on how well children can apply what they’ve learned independently and without direct adult support. This helps us understand what each child can do on their own and where they may need further support or challenge. We also hold regular half-termly meetings to discuss each child’s progress and consider any interventions or additional support that may help them continue to thrive.
Year 2 is a year group in which children often develop their academic skills rapidly. They build on the foundations laid in earlier years and become increasingly independent learners, able to apply reading, writing, and maths skills across a range of tasks and contexts. It is important to remember that all children are different and develop at their own pace!
If parents or carers have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Mrs Hawkins through the Class Dojo platform.
